The Shcherbinsky District Court of Moscow recognized the norms of the permissible size of hand luggage established by the Victory Airlines illegal and ordered it to increase the dimensions, the court decision said.
Within a month, the “Victory”, which demanded that the hand luggage does not exceed the size of 36 x 30 x 4 centimeters (height x length x width)should increase the dimensions of the free transportation of hand luggage to 36 x 30 x 27 centimeters. Also, the airline should set the norm for goods from Duty Free stores packaged in a package of at least 24 x 32 centimeters.
It should be noted that the official website of the Pobeda airline is currently already indicated new baggage transportation standards according to the requirements of the court.
“Victory” referred to contradictions in the federal aviation rules, one of which requires the carrier to safely place hand luggage in the cabin, and the other – permits to transport additional things in excess of the established norm. The judge pointed out that in 2018 the Supreme Court already considered the Victory statement and determined that the conclusions of the airline were based on improper interpretation of the rule of law, and the points of federal aviation rules are interconnected.
On May 30, it became known that the Shcherbinsky District Court, at the request of the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office, admitted that the “Victory” “significantly reduced” (to the width of 4 cm) the size of the permissible hand luggage. The prosecutor’s office noted that the airline “deliberately unacceptable conditions” excluding for passengers “the possibility of free transportation of things, the sizes of which are not subject to restriction by law” (for example, a port of a wheel, a ladies' handbag, a backpack or a bouquet of flowers).
