End of the production of Löwensenf mustard after six decades

The owner of the brand, Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH, announced the gradual termination of the plant's activities in Düsseldorf – the end of production was planned at the end of 2025. This decision has already been announced, but now the company has revealed details about the schedule and changes.
The company reached an agreement with the company council and trade unions, which established:
- Conditions of check -in for 54 people employed in the plant (40 in production and 14 in administration),
- Planned stages of transferring production to other factories belonging to Develey.
The heritage stays, although in a changed form
Despite moving, the Löwensenf brand will not disappear from the market – mustard will continue to be produced according to the same traditional recipe, but already in other locations of the group. Good news for the local community and traditions of tradition is that the company Löwensenf store in Altstadt will remain open.
The factory operating near the airport existed since 1965. After the takeover of the brand by Develey in 2001, the plant produced about 6,000 tons of mustard annually. As the company explains, the main reason for the decision to close is the inability to further develop in the currently rented location.
