An explosion affected a railway line in the Voronej region on Southern Russia on Thursday, forcing the authorities to suspend railway traffic on a direction of walking. No victims were registered.

An explosion occurred on Thursday at kilometer 725 of the Evdakovo-Sauni section, in the Russian Voronej region, located about 120 kilometers south of the regional capital and about 450 kilometers from Moscow. The incident damaged the railway rails and led to the suspension of train traffic on a direction of walking, according to EFE agency, quoted by Agerpres.

The local press reported that the explosion took place on one of the main railway lines in the area. The governor of the region, Aleksandr Gusev, confirmed the information in a message published on Telegram: “The traffic was stopped after minor damages were observed on the rolling path ”he transmitted. “There are no victims. Emergency Services already set the cause of the incident, and their representatives are on the spotI, ”Gusev added.

Other similar incidents over the weekend

The event comes just a few days after two trains derailed in the neighboring regions Kursk and Briansk. The explosions produced there damaged railway bridges, which led to serious derailments.

In the case of the Briansk incident, the authorities reported seven dead and over 100 injured. In the Kursk region, a freight train derailed, without victims, but with important material damages.

The Russian authorities accuse Ukraine of being behind these attacks, qualifying them as “terrorist attacks”.
