During the last meeting in Istanbul, Russian and Ukrainian delegations exchanged a memoranda containing proposals for resolving the conflict. According to the source of the bodium, none of the parties are ready to take the conditions of the opponent.
– Russia will not agree to the Kiev Memorandum, and he calls Moscow's proposals unacceptable. Europe will agree with Kiev, Trump will say that it is because [rozmowy odbyły się] without him. But no one intends to interrupt negotiations, we will talk. And fight – said the interlocutor.
He also drew attention to the unusual form of the memorandum presented by Russia.
According to him, the document was written “demonstratively in a simple language”, reminiscent of a “cheat sheet for Medinski [przewodniczącego rosyjskiej delegacji na rozmowy w Stambule]”than the diplomatic text. He emphasized that no serious contract or proposal of a truce is prepared in such a style, although the document specified the key conditions of Russia.
The source of the verst also pointed out that now the United States has the opportunity to see that negotiations do not mean that the parties are close to compromise. In his opinion, the problem is not in the absence of dialogue, and in the deep differences between the pages that lead him, which cannot be solved by a short -term truce established at 30 or 60 days. Nevertheless, the parties continue cooperation on some sensitive issues. For example, since the start of the war on full -scale, the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the fallen regularly has been exchanged. “In this matter, Kyiv can cooperate with us,” said the interlocutor of the poviat.

Russia and Ukraine remain in contact on the safety of nuclear energy facilities – he added. These consultations take place at the level of special services and constitute a “separate story”, not directly related to negotiations in Istanbul – emphasized the source, without going into details.
Diplomatic show
The politician Mikhail Winogradow believes that Moscow and Kyiv will sooner or later be forced to go to real agreements. Currently, however – in his opinion – “each side assumes that the situation is not yet critical enough to make concessions.” External pressure is too weak to lead to specific decisions.
The spokesman for the President of Russia Dmitry Pieskow said earlier that one should not count on a quick breakthrough in negotiations. “The expectation of some immediate decisions and breakthroughs would be wrong here, but the work is ongoing,” he said. Answering the question about possible compromises with Ukraine, he emphasized that such information belongs to the private part of the negotiating process.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rust Umerov accused Moscow of an attempt to drag dialogue and create appearances of diplomatic activity. He reminded that the Russian side passed its memorandum only during the meeting and the results of negotiations did not bring the end of the war.
“It seems that the Russians are taking negotiations again, trying to create a” diplomatic show “for the United States without taking real action,” wrote Umerow on his Facebook profile.
