At a price of 55 euros per ton CO2, the fee we will have to pay on average after the ETS2 system enters into force can be about PLN 30. with one refueling – according to a report published on Tuesday by an organization supporting the zero -emission transport T&E.

In 2027, the emission trade system will be expanded, among others for transport and buildings. The new fee will be covered by households, which will pay additional fees, paying for refueling cars or heating.
As T&P calculated, new fees can bring EUR 300 billion in the entire Union during the first five years.
As the director of the Warsaw branch of T&O t & E Adam Guibourgé-Chietwertyński told PAP, influence from ETS2 for Poland at this time can amount to EUR 30 billion, with up to EUR 6.5 billion our country from wealthier Member States.
However, the organization drew attention to the burden of what new fees may be for less wealthy households. At a price of 55 euros for a ton of carbon dioxide, we will pay an additional about 7 euros – i.e. almost PLN 30 – by refueling a car such as VW Polo. “However, even at the price of ETS of 55 euros per ton of gas prices would remain below the average of the last 20 years after the inflation took into account” – it was written in the report.
The need to pay additional fees can make ETS2 unpopular. To avoid this, T&O appealed in the report that half of the receipts from new fees would go back to the households.
“It is important that these billions do not dissolve in the overall budget,” said Guibourgé -Cutwertyński. According to him, the transfer of half of the receipts from ETS2 would protect the lower two -thirds of society from increasing prices. “The rest should be allocated to investments that permanently reduce emissions, such as improving access to public transport or price -available electric cars, in particular in areas with the problem of transport exclusion” – he added.
T & E also pointed out that in trade of emissions prices for a ton of carbon dioxide can be significantly influenced. To avoid jumping fees, it should be – according to the report – a reform to maintain prices at a maximum level of up to 55 euros per ton of CO2.
