A Diesel locomotive was engulfed in flames on Friday evening, around 8:15 pm, in the area of ​​Valea Călugărească in Prahova county. This tract a freight train consisting of 36 tank wagons, all loaded with oil.

The intervention of the authorities was prompt. According to the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Prahova, four special vehicles with water and foam, a powder (nitrogen), a SMURD crew and an ambulance of the County Ambulance Service were sent.

At the arrival of the crews, the locomotive was stationed under the high voltage lines, which imposed additional safety measures before the actual intervention began. Fortunately, the fire did not expand to the wagons loaded with crude oil, and the fire was liquidated shortly with the help of the powder special vehicle, notes the uncomforted.

Fortunately, there were no victims, and there were no homes or other buildings in the area that were endangered. However, due to the incident, the railway circulation was temporarily interrupted on that railway segment.

The exact cause of the outbreak of the fire is to be established after the completion of the research and the extinguishing intervention.
