Nawrocki on CPAC: I will strive for unilaterally terminating the migration pact

Presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki declared on Tuesday at the CPAC conference that as the future Polish president he would strive for unilateral termination of the migration pact. He estimated that Europe needs a “strong, conservative voice, also from Poland.”

The presidential candidate supported by PiS was a special guest of the CPAC conference, which takes place for the first time in Poland, in the Jasionka in Rozszów.
CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) is an annual conference taking place in the past in the US, in which conservative politicians and activists from around the world are involved from the 1970s. In recent years, CPAC has also been organized in other countries, including in Hungary or as this year in Poland.
Nawrocki emphasized in his speech that “our common future” would decide on Sunday. “The future of our children, the future of our grandchildren and on this path all patriotic environments that Poland love and who believe that Poland is a great deal should be together,” he said.
He noted that the Tuesday conference CPAC plays a role, which, according to Nawrocki, should be fulfilled by the government of Donald Tusk. “For the Polish Presidency in the European Union Council is a kind of commitment to today's Donald Tusk government to (…) to organize the EU summit with the United States just in Warsaw. And this did not happen, because Prime Minister Donald Tusk at this time prefers to pursue Zorro and a civic candidate and cannot do what is most important for Poland” – said Nawrocki.
In his opinion, today's world is on a “geopolitical bend” and needs an agreement between the EU and the USA. “I am in favor of the Euro -Atlantic ship, and therefore the combined forces of the European Union, of which I am in favor of and the United States, flows in the same direction,” he said.
According to the candidate supported by PiS, Europe needs “a strong, conservative voice, also from Poland” after years.
He repeated once again in this campaign that Poland and Europe cannot “push themselves into the migration package”. According to Nawrocki, if his competitor wins, the document will be accepted by Poland.
“That is why, as the future Polish president, I want to say it clearly today – I will strive for unilateral termination of the migration pact for the defense of Polish borders,” he announced.
As Nawrocki added, Poland today has the right to defend its borders, both eastern and western. He noted that thanks to PiS rule, Poland became “a fortress of security”.
In the opinion of the candidate supported by PiS, Rafał Trzaskowski lies during the debates about his ideas for Poland after June 1. According to Nawrocki, one of Trzaskowski's first decisions will be to adopt a migration pact.
As an example, he gave the situation in Romania, where after losing the conservative candidate “all bad phenomena accelerated”.
“We must be aware of this by making a choice on June 1, because we want Poland to be safe, that Poland is not under pressure from foreign ideology, green order. And today it is a task for us as Polish conservatives, but also for all European conservatives,” he said.
In Nawrocki's opinion, Poland must currently take care of Polish-American relations and can become an EU leader when it comes to “cultivating transatlantic relations”.
The migration pact is to spread responsibility for migration management in the Union among all member countries. EU ministers approved the regulations in May 2024 despite the opposition of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Poland is one of the countries that have not submitted their plan to implement the regulations in Brussels. The rulers have repeatedly declared that Poland does not intend to implement the provisions of the Pact. In February, Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting with the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that “Poland would not implement a migration pact in a way that would cause additional, any amounts of migrants in Poland.” (PAP)
