Slovakia is the only country in Central and Eastern Europe, in which less than half of the citizens are ready to defend it – according to the Think Tank Globsec survey published on Wednesday, carried out in nine countries of the region. In Poland, this percentage amounted to 84 percent. And he was the highest.

Most respondents gave a positive answer to the same question in the Czech Republic – 81 percent. The Czech Republic also has the smallest number of people in the region who believe in disinformation. The study also showed that 73 percent in the entire region respondents believe that defense expenditure should be increased. 63 percent agreed in Slovakia. At the same time, over two -thirds of Slovaks agree to the introduction of additional forms of voluntary military service, similar to Polish territorial defense or in the Czech Republic – an active reserve. In Poland, this percentage is 89 percent, and in Lithuania and the Czech Republic 81 percent.

The Globsec survey shows that the percentage of Slovaks who think that you should stay in the EU is higher than in Poland (74 percent) and amounts to 75 percent. The highest is in Romania, Hungary and Lithuania.

Respondents were also asked about the threat from Russia. It is seen as a threat for 86 percent. when asked in Poland. 74 percent in the Czech Republic, 50 percent in Slovakia and 30 percent in Bulgaria. Of the nine countries of the region, only in Slovakia, most (52 percent) of respondents believe that Ukraine should give part of their territory in the interest of peace.

In each of the surveyed countries, Globsec analysts surveyed 1000 respondents in February and March this year.
