The shocking photos show a swelling that comes out of the throat, which the doctors attributed to the fact that its vertebrae have become “extremely extended ”from The cause of the unnatural position, according to the Dailymail.

Doctors said the patient had asked for help after suffering severe neck pain for six months and became unable to raise his head. He also had problems with swallowing, which caused him to eat less meals and lose a worrying amount of weight.

According to the quoted publication, the doctors noticed that although the patient had been an active child, everything changed at the beginning of his adolescence. After facing “serious intimidation”, the patient withdrew from society, dropping out of school and barricading in his room for several years. During self -resolving, it was played on the phone for extremely long periods, while leaning on his neck to look down at the device.

Initially, doctors have tried to correct the head syndrome with collars – medical devices worn around the neck that support and stabilize the head. However, because the patient complained of numbness while carrying the devices, this treatment was discontinued.

Instead, the doctors opted for a series of surgical procedures. First, they removed small segments of vertebrae and part of the scar tissue that had developed in the throat. Doctors then introduced a series of metal screws and rods into the neck bones to correct the posture.

Six months after the operation, it was found that the patient could easily keep his head in a horizontal position.

The man's problems to raise his head and swallowed did not reappear during a control of a year later.

Doctors' warning

Experts concluded that their patient's condition was probably triggered by a combination of long-term effects of keeping the neck in an uncomfortable position while playing on the phone and a “Underlying development disorder”.

However, they urged a greater awareness of the dangers of excessive use of smartphones, especially as it is increasing among young people.

Writing in Jos Case Reports magazine, the team said the patient and his family agreed that this case would be published.

The fallen head syndrome – also known as the Floppy head syndrome – is a rare medical disorder, in which the neck muscles become so weak that they can no longer support the head

Although it is most commonly associated with neuromuscular disorders, such as motor neuron disease, it can be triggered by other conditions.

These include substance abuse, Iranian doctors recently present a case in which a 23 -year -old man who developed this condition was involved after consuming amphetamine for several years.
