FCSB Initiates Winter Transfer Search for Key Players

After a challenging summer transfer window, where players did not meet Gigi Becali’s expectations and Denis Drăguș struggled with injuries, FCSB is actively searching for new talent to boost its lineup this winter.
Following a 0-1 loss to Gloria Bistrița in the Romanian Cup, Becali expressed dissatisfaction with the current squad and announced plans for significant winter acquisitions. He revealed intentions to recruit two midfielders, a right-back, and a striker, emphasizing that the search has already begun.
Planned Transfers by FCSB
Becali stated, “I had mentioned bringing in five players, but it’s likely I may go for just three. The outcomes of recent matches do not solely dictate this decision. Most players who participated in the last match are not regulars, except for David Miculescu.”
He specified he wants to add a number 6 (midfielder), number 9 (striker), number 10 (attacking midfielder), and a right-back, noting concerns over the aging Crețu and Labonne, who has yet to impress him.
“For the past two weeks, I have been monitoring potential signings. I prefer to take the lead in selections. I will be held accountable if the choices do not pan out. I did not see Arad play, and I selected Labonne, so it’s on me; I only viewed him for a brief period. Things have changed, and what worked before no longer applies,” Becali commented during a “Digi Sport Special” interview.
Players at Risk of Losing Their Positions
In the right-back position, FCSB relies on Valentin Crețu (37) and Ronny Labonne (29). Crețu’s contract is set to expire in the winter, while Labonne has not convinced Becali of his capabilities.
Among defensive midfielders, FCSB has Karlo Muhar (30), who has secured a starting spot, alongside Eddy Gnahore (32), who is no longer in Becali’s plans, and Joao Paulo (38) and Ofri Arad (28), both of whom have faced criticism from the club’s owner. Risto Radunovic (33) has also played in that role but is out of contract in January, with negotiations for an extension yet to begin despite coach Laurențiu Reghecampf’s interest in keeping him.
For the number 10 position, FCSB may turn to Aymen Boutoutaou, Juri Cisotti, or David Miculescu. In the forward line, following Arnold Garita’s departure, FCSB retains Alexandru Stoian and Denis Drăguș, who could also play on the wing.
Becali criticized the team’s performance, stating, “I’ve never seen such a weak team as Bistrița. They made defensive errors, yet we couldn’t score against them? I mentioned during our game against Rapid that their weakness was apparent; we weren’t exceptional ourselves. I can see the players’ value, and we simply lack quality. The best chance they had was to go up 2-0.”
