Nawrocki posted a film on the web before the debate. “When I stood up to these choices, I knew they could go to everything,” said Nawrocki.
He described that he met him in 2008 when he was his neighbor. Already then Jerzy was to be a charges of the Municipal Social Welfare Center. He stated that this help, however, was insufficient for his needs.
“The apartment in question belonged to municipal resources. Mr. Jerzy was his tenant. Unfortunately, due to the difficult financial situation, he was not able to regularly regulate fees, which resulted in increasing debt. In 2010, he asked me for financial help, specifically for a loan for the purchase of an apartment – this was to reduce his monthly maintenance costs. The issue of selling the premises appeared only the following year, in 2011. In the will, Mr. Jerzy gave me all his property, including this apartment, “he said.
“However, there was a circumstance that I have been silent about because of respect for Mr. Jerzy, but which I can no longer remain silent, because my honesty and good intentions are undermined. It is crucial for understanding the whole situation. At the end of 2011, Mr. Jerzy was imprisoned in custody. In the face of this situation and growing debts he was afraid that he would lose the roof over his head and lands on the street. The sale of the apartment gained momentum, “he explained.
Nawrocki He emphasized that he had the correspondence that Jerzy sent him from the prison.
“Considering his problems with alcohol addiction and the fact of being in custody, we have determined that the amount of PLN 120,000 for the apartment, indicated in the act and confirmed by Mr. Jerzy, will be allocated by me gradually – for the following years – to cover the costs associated with the maintenance of the apartment and the current life needs of Jerzy” – he continued.
“We chose the solution in accordance with the regulations – after the conclusion of the contract, the parties determine the method of settlement among themselves,” he argued.
“He didn't want any security”
Nawrocki noted that in 2017 they signed another contract. “Mr. Jerzy did not demand any security for himself, he did not demand the establishment of life imprisonment or the right to use the apartment. He gave us a power of attorney to handle matters on his behalf. He was based on my assurance that as long as he needed it, he would be able to live in this place. And so it was ” – he lived there without obstacles, and I didn't even have the keys for this apartment – the PiS candidate for president emphasized.
He also noted that People acting in bad faith would have long used the situation, selling a place or placing their loved ones in it. “However, I have never even had access to this apartment. This is how people who try to take over the real estate at someone else's expense,” he said.
He emphasized that after taking the function of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance and moving to Warsaw, contact with Mr. Jerzy became rarer.
“However, I always visited him on the occasion of Christmas – sometimes in the company of my sons. It also happened that he called me for help – even when I was abroad. In such situations I sent a friend, Grzegorz, who gave him the necessary support. Anyway, he still knows the code to the door of his staircase” – said Nawrocki.
“In December 2024, I went to Mr. Jerzy to give him Christmas wishes. I did not find him at home – which had previously happened. I talked to one of the neighbors then, asking where he could stay. It turned out that by the court's decision he was placed in a social welfare home, which was why he was not able to contact me. I feel sorry that no one informed me, even though I was written as contact in his phone, “he added.
