Reghecampf Critiques Miculescu After 4-1 Victory Over Rapid

After FCSB’s commanding 4-1 victory against Rapid, coach Laurențiu Reghecampf, 51, addressed his decision to substitute David Miculescu, 25, at halftime. “Players who are substituted need to reflect and strive to do more,” Reghecampf stated following the win.

The match marked a significant moment for FCSB, showcasing a strong comeback and securing their third consecutive victory under Reghecampf’s leadership.

Reghecampf’s Clear Message: Changes on the Bench Must Make an Impact

Reghecampf emphasized the importance of the substitutions during the match. According to reports, five of the seven goals scored by FCSB since Reghecampf’s return have come from players who were substituted in. He replaced Arnold Garita with Alexandru Stoian in the 42nd minute due to a knee injury, while Miculescu was replaced at halftime by Aymen Boutoutaou, who was named the match’s MVP.

Reflecting on Miculescu’s performance, Reghecampf was candid, stating that he expected more from the former team captain. “I was forced to make a change at halftime due to David’s performance, which was not at the level I desire. This does not mean he isn’t a very good player; I expect discussions to follow this decision,” he remarked.

Reghecampf also highlighted the importance of contributions from the bench, indicating that every player holds significant value within the team. He noted improvements in team dynamics, stating, “We are gradually becoming a strong group, and it’s essential for our opponents to understand how difficult it is to play against us at home.”

Miculescu, who has struggled with injuries for much of the season and previously wore the captain’s armband, has scored one goal and provided one assist over eight league matches, in addition to two goals in the Romanian Cup. Throughout his career with FCSB, he has netted 34 goals in 206 matches, along with 10 assists.
