Luca Stancu Struggles for Game Time at FCSB After Summer Transfer

Luca Stancu, a 21-year-old right-back, has seen limited action since joining FCSB from Hermannstadt this summer, amassing only 114 minutes across four official matches. Despite meeting the U21 player requirement, he has not taken to the field since early September.

On July 22, FCSB announced Stancu’s transfer, recognizing him as one of the few standout players from the previous season at Hermannstadt, which ended in relegation for the club. Hermannstadt has since been disbanded.

Stancu, capable of playing on both flanks of defense, has struggled to secure a consistent role at FCSB. Head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf has opted for veteran players Valentin Crețu and Ronny Labonne in the right-back position, relegating Stancu to a backup option.

Under former coach Marius Baciu, Stancu received few opportunities, a trend that has continued with Reghecampf at the helm. He has made three appearances in the Superliga: 14 minutes against Csikszereda, 26 minutes versus UTA Arad, and 29 minutes in a derby match against Dinamo.

Stancu’s only start came in the Cupa României Betano against FC Argeș, but he was substituted at halftime after failing to impress.

His last competitive appearance was on September 5, when FCSB suffered a 1-2 defeat to Dinamo. Since then, he has remained on the bench.

Hailing from Pitești, Stancu moved to Hermannstadt from Câmpulung Muscel in the summer of 2025. Despite his new club’s challenging season, he stood out with two goals and two assists, including a goal and an assist against FCSB. Following their direct matchup in November, Stancu expressed his desire to join the red and blue club.
