A fraudulent call center has been uncovered in Ukraine, following the enforcement of a new article in the Criminal Code that was adopted in September. According to reports from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the National Police, and the Prosecutor General’s Office (OGP), the individuals involved gained unauthorized access to the funds of Ukrainian citizens and those from EU countries, subsequently misappropriating these assets. The penalties outlined in the statutes can lead to imprisonment for up to 15 years.
