Two Dead and Over 20 Injured in Kyiv Building Attack

Authorities in Kyiv have confirmed the death of two individuals following a missile strike on a residential building in the Desnyanskyi district. Initially, only one casualty was reported, but as of 1:30 AM local time, officials uncovered another body within the structure. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko revealed that there are currently 21 injured, including an eight-year-old child, with 16 of them requiring hospitalization and four in serious condition.
Rescue operations are still ongoing as emergency services work to ensure the safety of all residents. Eyewitnesses reported distressing scenes, with individuals crying out for help at the site of the incident.

The missile strike targeted a nine-story apartment building, igniting fires that affected units from the first to the eighth floors. Evacuations were conducted for residents on the upper levels following the attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the main target of the ballistic strike was TETs-4, a major energy facility in Kyiv, confirming the impact on the building. The Ukrainian Air Force had alerted the public about the incoming ballistic missiles at 10:40 PM, but reports indicated that explosions occurred before the air raid alert was issued. Zelensky also noted that Ukraine did not receive any warnings from its partners about the strike, and Ukrainian systems detected the missiles as they approached Kyiv. He urged citizens to remain vigilant during the night and the following day due to the potential for further attacks.
