An explosion in St. Petersburg has reportedly claimed the life of a military officer, identified as Sergey S., who was listed as a major in the “Myrotvorets” database. His father confirmed to Russian media that his son died in the incident. According to reports, Sergey was 43 years old and hailed from Ryazan. Additionally, his wife, Anna, is said to work at a delivery service near the explosion site.
Reports suggest that Sergey had previously informed his superiors that he was “on the liquidation list.” The Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Service had accused the military unit he served in, Unit 12633, of conducting missile and bombing strikes against civilian populations in Ukraine, particularly in the Kharkiv region.
Local media outlet “Fontanka” indicated that a 24-year-old female suspect may have planted explosives under the officer’s vehicle. It is reported that she had been contacted via messenger by unknown individuals a few months prior, who were later allegedly joined by representatives from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The woman, not from St. Petersburg, traveled from another city, selected the vehicle, and attached the explosives before departing to Pulkovo Airport and flying to Turkey.
After the FSB and law enforcement tracked down the suspect, they concluded that searching for her in Russia would be futile and reached out to Turkish counterparts. However, Turkish authorities stated that she had already departed for Chisinau, from where she could reach the Ukrainian border.
