Cristi Chivu, the 45-year-old coach, reacted to Inter Milan’s draw in the unique group stage of the Champions League, where they will face eight opponents. As the reigning champions of Italy, Inter is placed in the top tier, squaring off against elite teams like Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Chivu’s Thoughts on Upcoming Matches
Commenting on the challenge, Chivu stated, “The Champions League is a competition that brings together the elite of European football. Every match is tough, and recent editions have shown that nothing can be taken for granted. We will face several top clubs. There will be eight extremely challenging matches, where we will try to give our best and demonstrate that we are competitive.” This statement was shared on Inter’s official website.
Inter will host four matches at the “Giuseppe Meazza” stadium against Liverpool, Club Brugge, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Stuttgart. Chivu’s team will also visit Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord, and Slovan Bratislava in away games.
Chivu to Face Former Mentor Jose Mourinho
Among the notable encounters, Chivu will confront his former mentor, Jose Mourinho, at the “Bernabeu” as the coach has returned to Real Madrid this summer. Chivu played under Mourinho at Inter from 2008 to 2010, a period which culminated in an historic treble for the club.
