Ukrainian President Signs Decree on Diplomatic Rank

Ukrainian President has officially granted Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the diplomatic rank of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador, according to a recent decree.

The decree also includes the appointment of Igor Ostash, the Director of the State Educational and Scientific Institution “Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine named after Hennadiy Udovenko under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”, to the rank of extraordinary and plenipotentiary envoy of the second class.

Ostash, who was appointed as the academy’s director last year, has held various roles, including serving as Ukraine’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Canada and Lebanon. He has represented Ukraine at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and has been a member of the Ukrainian Parliament across multiple terms, including heading the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs. Additionally, he has worked at the Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and led the International School of Ukrainian Studies. Since August 2024, Ostash has been a non-staff advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
