Ukraine Secures Gas Supplies Ahead of Heating Season

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the country has made significant progress in securing gas supplies for the upcoming heating season. As of now, 14.3 billion cubic meters (m³) of gas are stored, indicating that the country is ahead of schedule in its preparations.
From January to July, Ukraine imported 2 billion m³ of gas. Shmyhal highlighted that the total potential for gas imports from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania is approximately 20 billion m³ annually. This volume creates additional reserves for diversifying supply sources.
In terms of contracting, Naftogaz of Ukraine has secured over 2.09 billion m³ of gas this year. The minister noted that the coal reserves also exceed planned levels, providing sufficient supplies to navigate the heating season under a baseline scenario.
