Dumitru Moraru’s Insights on Dinamo’s Recent Derby Victory

Dumitru „Țețe” Moraru, the 70-year-old former goalkeeper for Dinamo and the national team, discussed Dinamo’s recent 1-0 victory against Rapid in a derby held on Saturday evening in Giulești. This win has further fueled enthusiasm around Dinamo, which currently sits atop the Superligă. However, Moraru cautions against premature conclusions despite the positive impressions left by the players’ performances.
Moraru identified areas where the team could strengthen if they aspire to compete for the title, praising goalkeeper Alaa Bellaarouch for his contributions. Conversely, he disagrees with the notion that George Pușcaș can assist Campos, stating that Pușcaș may be a lost cause for the team.
Moraru: Two Midfielders and a Forward Needed for Title Contention
“In my opinion, it’s still too early to draw conclusions, as many stages remain. No team should become overly enthusiastic, given the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
While I appreciate how Dinamo plays, despite some critics claiming they haven’t had shots on goal, they recorded five goals against Craiova and four against Voluntari, and managed to win in Giulești. Instead of criticism, they deserve praise, even at this early stage in the season.
I believe Dinamo has talented players, and if they bring in two midfielders and possibly another forward, they could contend for the title! Or even two forwards, depending on their situation.
Those responsible for bringing in the Moroccan goalkeeper deserve commendation! If he continues to perform well, I believe Dinamo should activate his purchase clause immediately (as Bellaarouch is on loan from Braga). He is just 24 years old and could stay here for another three years, after which Dinamo could recoup their investment twofold. Great goalkeepers are invaluable; without one, you’re doomed in team sports. First and foremost, you need a goalkeeper!” Moraru stated in an interview.
Moraru Questions Pușcaș’s Role
Following the match, Andrei Nicolescu announced that Dinamo would continue to rely on George Pușcaș, while also searching for another forward. Moraru’s view differs, suggesting Pușcaș is a lost cause for Dinamo.
“Nicolescu should seek another forward instead of waiting for Pușcaș! In my view, unfortunately, Pușcaș is a lost bet for Dinamo. He hasn’t played for so long… He has faced misfortunes abroad, but I believe they made a mistake with him.
How can you sign a player for a salary of 15,000 who hadn’t played for eight months and was injured? No professional team would do such a thing. Bringing in injured players just to pay them and treat them? I need players who can play if I’m paying them.”
Comparing Coaches: Campos vs. Kopic
“Once again… It’s too early to rate Campos. However, I believe the team looks much more cohesive and stronger under his management.
As for Kopic… If we consider it this way, he spent two years without winning anything. I have nothing against him, as I don’t know him personally… He was a civil man with the press and everyone, but what did he achieve? Qualifying us for the playoffs and finishing fifth? Both players and coaches are judged by their performances.
We keep hearing… ‘He was a good player but achieved nothing.’ Truly great players and coaches are those who win trophies,” Moraru concluded in his discussion.
Moraru has won three titles with Dinamo.
