Ukraine Could Boost Foreign Currency Revenue by Exporting Gas Surplus

Gennadiy Ryabtsev has stated that if the needs of all Ukrainian consumers are met, a controlled export mechanism for natural gas can be organized, allowing for exports up to 15% of the previous month’s production. This initiative could potentially direct surplus energy resources to external markets, thereby generating additional foreign currency revenue for Ukraine.
However, Ryabtsev emphasized that during the ongoing full-scale war, the determination of allowable gas supply volumes and their directions must remain under government jurisdiction. He reiterated, “It is certainly possible, but it is the responsibility of the government to regulate flows, especially during wartime.”
