A devastating earthquake struck Colombia, registering a magnitude of 7.4 according to the U.S. Geological Survey, while the Colombian Geological Service reported a magnitude of 6.7. Initial reports indicate that at least 29 people have lost their lives as a result of the disaster, with many others likely injured.
The earthquake caused severe damage in several municipalities, particularly in the city of Cali, where approximately 20 buildings collapsed, trapping individuals beneath the rubble. The exact number of injuries has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be in the dozens.
In addition to the earthquake, volcanic activity has been reported in Cauca, with the Purace volcano erupting following the seismic event.
