Andreea Popovici drew attention during the introduction of Kevin Ciubotaru, who has joined Dundee United as a new left-back. Ciubotaru, formerly with Hermannstadt, signed with the Scottish club after his previous team faced financial difficulties and opted out of the Liga a 2-a season.
Kevin was not alone for his debut in Dundee; Andreea Popovici accompanied him throughout the event. On Instagram, she commented, “The beginning of a new chapter!” alongside a photo of the new player. Ciubotaru responded with, “My support!”
At just 22 years old, Ciubotaru is considered a promising talent in Romanian football. Born in Rome, Italy, he has recently been called up to the national team.
Beyond the pitch, Ciubotaru’s relationship with Andreea Popovici, a beautiful and private young woman, is noteworthy. She is currently studying Dentistry and is preparing for a career in the dental field, having graduated from the National College “Octavian Goga” in Sibiu. Despite her academic commitments, Andreea makes time to attend Kevin’s matches, and their relationship has been ongoing for approximately two years.
Kevin Ciubotaru’s official presentation at Dundee United marks an important step in his career. Having previously played for Rangers’ youth teams, he joined Hermannstadt in the summer of 2023 after a lengthy negotiation process, which also involved discussions with Dinamo.
Following a loan stint at Unirea Ungheni, Ciubotaru became a key player and one of the highly regarded young defenders in the Superliga.
In an interview with FRF TV, Ciubotaru reflected on his move to Romania, stating, “We moved to Romania because I saw it as a great opportunity to progress to the senior national team. It was a decision based on the fact that coaches in Scotland were very strict about fitness training, and being physically prepared was crucial in such a demanding league. I also spent some years in England, where physical training was similarly emphasized. That was my biggest takeaway from abroad.”
