Jordan Henderson, 36, has reached an agreement with Brentford to terminate his contract and will become a new player for Chelsea at the request of manager Xabi Alonso.
The midfielder concludes his time at the London club after just one season, during which he made 34 appearances across all competitions.
Henderson joined Brentford last year as a free agent after parting ways with Ajax.
According to English reports, the England international is set to be officially presented at Chelsea, as Xabi Alonso seeks an experienced player to complement a young squad. Danny Welbeck from Brighton is also expected to join Chelsea.

In his farewell message, the former Liverpool captain expressed gratitude towards the club.
“I leave Brentford with immense gratitude for the opportunity the club has given me and for the support and affection shown to me and my family from day one,” Henderson stated.
The midfielder also emphasized the significance of returning to the Premier League.
“Returning to the Premier League was very important to me, and Brentford provided that opportunity. I will always be grateful for that. I hope I played my part in helping the team during an important time for the club. We achieved many things together last season, and it is something everyone involved should be proud of. Brentford is a special and ambitious football club,” Henderson conveyed.
Currently, Henderson is injured after fracturing his wrist during the celebration of England’s qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Although he did not play a minute in the final tournament, the midfielder remained with the squad until the end, with England finishing with a bronze medal.
