Ukrainian military leader General Syrskiy has responded to allegations that he is not interested in engaging in drone warfare, a claim he describes as bizarre. He stated, “I created the drone forces as a separate branch of the military,” during a recent commentary highlighting his commitment to serious military work rather than media appearances.
General Syrskiy expressed frustration at how his recent silence has been misinterpreted as agreement with critics. He asserted that the real victories in war come from tangible efforts rather than public theatrics. In addressing claims of a conflict with the Minister of Defense, he remarked, “If I have offended anyone, I apologize. Sometimes I can be tough.”
He also clarified that the strategy of war is not a public document but is reported directly to the Supreme Commander. “The results are evident on the front lines,” he added, emphasizing his over 40 years of military experience. He stressed the importance of comprehensive preparation for effective drone operations, which requires artillery, mortars, engineering tools, air defense, and electronic warfare capabilities.
Moreover, he noted that a recent initiative presented over a month ago is being implemented, with around 2,000 soldiers signing new contracts. However, he acknowledged receiving reports of demotivated troops who expected distinct conditions but were met with different realities. He highlighted the need for official processes to back military decisions, as presentations alone should not lead to disillusionment among the ranks.
