Igor Poklad, a notable Ukrainian composer, passed away on July 9, 2025. In remembrance of his legacy, a monument has been erected at his grave, as shared by his widow, Svitlana Poklad.

Svitlana noted that the design of the monument was based on a portrait created by renowned Ukrainian photographer Felix Rozenstein. “He is one of the best photographic artists in Ukraine. This is one of the last photos of Igor, capturing his character beautifully,” she stated.
She initially intended to embed this particular photograph into the monument but faced delays in finding a skilled craftsman due to mobilization issues. Thankfully, a qualified artist was eventually located, allowing the project to move forward.
The unveiling of the monument took place in an intimate gathering among close family and friends, respecting Igor’s preference for privacy. “Igor did not enjoy public events; this was merely for us, his family. We fulfilled his wish to be buried beside his mother,” Svitlana shared.
She also mentioned that Igor had a significant final wish regarding his legendary grand piano, which he wanted to be donated to a music school in Ternopil. “I will ensure it is transferred by the end of this year. Additionally, I plan to donate another instrument from Igor’s collection to the school he attended, which will now bear his name,” she confirmed.
Svitlana expressed gratitude towards the leadership of the Palace of Ukraine for their assistance in making the monument a reality. “I won’t go into details, but without their support, we couldn’t have achieved this. I am thankful to Serhiy Perman and Andriy Vydysh for their initiative and continuous support,” she added.
Igor Poklad was a distinguished figure in the arts, having written over 150 songs, including renowned pieces like “Oi, Letily Diki Husy” and music for more than ten films and musicals. His contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the title of Hero of Ukraine awarded to him by President Zelensky on December 9, 2021.
