Former Brigade Commander Detained After 10-Day Manhunt in Kyiv

Brothers Roman and Maksym Moseychuk were found dead, one of whom was a former serviceman who defended Kyiv during the early stages of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He had left military service approximately a year after his father’s death on the front lines.
According to Bolvinov, the police conducted a continuous 10-day operation to locate the ex-commander, who was hiding in Kyiv. His surroundings were under strict surveillance, and his exit from the country was immediately blocked.
Reports from “Slidstvo.Info” revealed that authorities were initially unaware of the ex-commander’s whereabouts. Following the arrest of his subordinates for the abduction and murder of the Moseychuk brothers, he altered his living situation, disabled his mobile devices, and ceased communication with his usual contacts.
At the time of his arrest on July 13, he was traveling in a vehicle owned by his father-in-law with his wife, who had also been evading capture but was not detained, according to reports.
Contextual information indicates that on July 3, police received reports about the disappearance of the two brothers from Kalynivka, Kyiv region. Initial investigations at their home revealed signs of gunfire.
National Police suggested that a conflict involving one brother and the wife of Stanislav Luchanov over loud music and motorcycle riding might have prompted the crime. Following this altercation, Luchanov allegedly ordered his subordinates to abduct the brothers, who were forcibly taken to Poltava region, held illegally, and later killed. Their bodies were discovered on July 9, buried in a forest area in the region.
The Operational Command “North” confirmed that Luchanov had left his unit without authorization. Ten individuals, including the former brigade commander, have been charged in connection with the case, and all suspects have been remanded in custody.
