Zelensky Proposes 90-Day Extension of Martial Law and Mobilization

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed a 90-day extension of martial law and mobilization, starting at 5:30 AM on August 2, 2026, and lasting until October 31, 2026.
The proposal has been presented to parliamentary members for review. If approved, this will mark the 20th occasion that the Verkhovna Rada has voted on this issue.
According to MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak from the Holos party, parliament may consider the proposal on July 14 or 15.
Context
- Since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Zelensky declared martial law and initiated general mobilization.
- The last extension of martial law was approved by the Verkhovna Rada on April 28, lasting until August 2.
