Harry Kane, the England striker, recently shared his memorable experience of playing golf with U.S. President Donald Trump during a training camp for the World Cup. The 32-year-old forward noted that the invitation came about a year and a half ago while he was in Palm Beach.
As England prepares to face Norway in the World Cup quarterfinal on Sunday, July 12, Kane reflected on the unusual encounter. “When the president invites you somewhere…it’s an experience that stands out. To be honest, he plays quite well. I hope to play as well as he does when I reach his age; it was something unique. I’m grateful for the invitation,” he recounted.
Trump Acknowledges Golf Meeting with Kane
President Trump confirmed their golf outing, stating, “I played golf with Kane, and I enjoyed it a lot. He is a great footballer and plays excellent golf,” according to reports.
However, Kane’s association with the controversial president is drawing mixed reactions, especially after Trump’s involvement in FIFA’s decision regarding Folarin Balogun’s elimination.
“For me, the World Cup is the pinnacle. This is probably the best opportunity I will have in my career to win a World Cup. I feel like I’m at the peak of my career. The message is to be free and not fear any outcome. I would rather lose after giving my all on the field. Every player has given their best. One of my favorite matches in an England shirt was the victory against Mexico,” Kane stated before the quarterfinal against Norway.
