Hungary Sets New Temperature Record at 42°C Amid Heatwave

Hungary has set a new temperature record, reaching 42°C on Tuesday, surpassing the previous record of 41.9°C established in 2007, according to the country’s meteorological service. This significant milestone was announced by HungaroMet in a video posted on their Facebook page.
The record temperature was recorded in Szecseny, located in northern Hungary near the Slovakian border. Meteorologist Anna Kuntar-Molnar stated in the video that preliminary data indicated both national and capital temperature records were broken, and temperatures could continue to rise.
In Budapest, the temperature soared to 41°C, exceeding the previous capital record of 40.7°C set in 2007. As seen across much of Europe, Hungary is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave, prompting meteorological authorities to issue the highest level of weather alert since last weekend.
