Extreme Heat Wave Approaches Poland, PSE Assures Energy Stability

An extreme heat wave is making its way to Poland, with forecasts predicting record-breaking temperatures. Mercury levels are expected to peak at 40-41°C, with nighttime temperatures remaining high at 20-25°C. According to forecasts, the highest temperatures will occur on Sunday in the west and on Monday in the eastern regions of the country.
PSE: No Power Outages Expected
Last week, peak electricity demand reached approximately 22 GW, which was about 1 GW higher than usual, as reported by PSE spokesperson Wapiński. This indicates that high temperatures have a significant but predictable impact on the load of the national power system.
Despite the rising demand, the situation remains stable. Currently, PSE does not foresee any risks of significant power outages. “The system is functioning without disturbances. The situation is stable, and there is no risk of implementing any restrictions on electricity usage,” the PSE representative assured.
Experts also point out the timing of the heat wave, noting that the highest temperatures are forecasted for the weekend, a time when energy demand typically decreases compared to weekdays. This further alleviates pressure on the system and enhances its safety.
