Zgierz launches an on-demand transport pilot. You just need to have the app

The pilot of the new solution started on Monday. The on-demand transport service is based on the Tup Tup & Go mobile application and is intended to facilitate access for residents of Zgierz from areas where the commune's transport offer is little or non-existent. In the first stage of the pilot, six buses were to hit the city streets. Ultimately, the fleet is to consist of ten vehicles. Trips will be ordered using a dedicated mobile application, which will automatically indicate the nearest virtual stop and designate the optimal route.

Transport on request in Zgierz. Waiting time is 10 minutes
“The pilot aims to examine the needs of passengers and directions of travel in the city of Zgierz,” we read on the website of Miejskie Usług Komunikacyjne (MUK) in Zgierz. The company – together with Vox Net – is the initiator and implementer of the campaign.
— This is a solution that is intended to complement public transport and increase the transport accessibility of residents. We are starting a pilot to see how the system will work in the conditions of our city and what benefits it will bring to passengers – explained the manager of Municipal Communication Services (MUK) in Zgierz, Radosław Podogrodzki.

The system is based on ride sharing. The application continuously selects passengers heading in similar directions, optimizing the route and travel time. — After selecting the destination, the system selects the most advantageous route and vehicle. The estimated waiting time is approximately 10 minutes, added Marian Juśkiewicz from Vox Net.
The cost of a single trip during the pilot period will be PLN 4. Payments will be made via the Tup Tup & Go app.
The pilot is expected to last three months. After its completion, an analysis of the functioning of the system will be carried out, which will allow to assess the interest of residents and the possibility of further development of the service
