When Adrian Veștea says that he received the proposal to be prime minister: “I was called by Mr. President”

Prime Minister-designate Adrian Veștea declared on Sunday evening, on Euronews and later on Antena 3 CNN, that the proposal to occupy the position of prime minister came from Cotroceni “four days ago”, when he also had a preliminary discussion with President Nicușor Dan.
- Asked what the specific day was, Vestea said that it was “Wednesday afternoon”. On Wednesday evening, at 6:00 p.m., the president made a speech in which he “called for the responsibility of the parties at this moment.”
- The news also said that on Saturday evening he was called again by the head of state, at which point the discussions came to fruition.
Asked about the information that appeared in the press since the spring, when the publication Biz Brașov wrote that “Adrian Veștea is secretly preparing to become prime minister”, the designated prime minister minimized the speculations and insisted that the concrete discussion took place only in the last few days.
“I think many have an admiration for Adrian Veștea. It is possible to make such speculations. But what I can tell you is that the proposal came a few days ago. Obviously, we had some time to think. They wanted to see if this government of technocrats has the possibility to pass,” said the designated prime minister, to Euronews.
Asked when he actually received the proposal, Vestea stated that it was made to him “four days ago”.
When asked if the initiative came from President Nicușor Dan, Veștea answered: “Absolutely”.
He also reported that, after returning from a trip to Budapest, he was called to a new discussion with the head of state.
“Last night, when I came to the country, I was called by Mr. President. The decision was that, before the interests of the parties and all the political calculations, we should also take Romania into account. We should report to Romania,” said the designated prime minister.
Asked why he didn't inform his PNL colleagues before the appointment, Adrian Veștea said: “I didn't have the opportunity to go to the meeting (Thursday's BPN PNL meeting, no) because I had to travel to Budapest and I had a series of problems. I didn't even have the necessary information. This decision was taken by the President of Romania.”
