A scooter stolen 40 years ago was returned to its owner. An extraordinary story from Italy


This extraordinary event took place in Saluzzo. As reported by the Italian agency ADNKronos, the police returned the owner of the Garelli scooter, which had disappeared from his life in 1984. For over 40 years, the man was convinced that his sentimental souvenir from his youth was gone forever.

Accidental inspection and a great comeback

Finding the lost item after such a long time was a pure coincidence. A Carabinieri patrol near Turin stopped for inspection 64-year-old driverwho was traveling on a two-wheeler without license plate.

A routine check of the vehicle's identification number in police systems left officers stunned. It turned out that the scooter had been registered as stolen for over 40 years.

Investigators determined that the theft took place in Liguriawhere the rightful owner lived as a teenager. After four decades, the vehicle, considered irretrievably lost, returned to the 58-year-old's hands.

Meanwhile, a 64-year-old man who was caught driving the found Garelli, he will be tried in court on charges of receiving stolen goods.
