Rinat Akhmetov (59 years old), owner of Shakhtior and the richest Ukrainian, submitted two offers for businesses in Romania. One of the companies that Mircea Lucescu's close friend wants is Liberty, which is also the main sponsor from Oțelul Galati. The other is called ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi.
Rinat Ahmetov submitted an offer to take over the steel plant in Galati. The Ukrainian is fighting with Dorinel Umbrărescu (63 years old), the Romanian businessman who also submitted an offer to take over Liberty Galati, as GSP wrote on October 25.

Rinat Ahmetov, who worked with Mircea Lucescu at Shakhtior, is the owner of Metinvest, the largest steel producer in Ukraine. And now he wants to enter the steel market in Romania.
He submitted an offer for the takeover of Liberty Galati, according to economedia.ro. Akhmetov is the richest Ukrainian, with a fortune of 7.9 billion dollars.
The boss from Shakhtior is already involved in business in Romania. DRI, a subsidiary of DTEK, Group owned by Ahmetov, controls the solar parks Glodeni I and Glodeni II, plus the 60MWp wind farm in Rugioasa.
The Ukrainian is involved in football at Shakhtior, a club he has led since 1996. He worked with Mircea Lucescu from 2004 to 2016.

In 2022, Akhmetov's fortune amounted to approximately 13 billion euros, according to Forbes. He lost almost half of his money after the start of the war in Ukraine.

After the offer to take over Liberty, Ahmetov also showed interest in taking over ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, a company that deals with the production and supply of welded carbon steel pipes.
The company is owned by Lakshmi Mittal, and in 2024 it had a turnover of 304 million euros, down from 2023, when it had 660 million euros.
Consider that Akhmetov's fortune was calculated at 27 billion dollars. And that Akhmetov never allowed himself to tell nea Mircea to screw someone. But it couldn't even fit in, and do you know why?
