How the Minister of Defense wants to increase the salaries of the military by 30%: “A raise that is given to all people in uniform”
The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, proposes an increase in the military's income through a mechanism that can reach up to 30%, claiming that it is essentially a salary increase disguised as an “operationalization increase”.

Radu Miruță stated, in an intervention on TVR Info, that the defense system needs a salary reform to become more attractive for new personnel and to reduce the shortage of employees in the system.
He referred to the so-called “operationalization boost” granted to military personnel, which he describes as a generally applied salary increase rather than a classic, selectively distributed increase.
“It is an operationalization increase. It is not an increase that is given as other increases are given, to some yes and to some no. It is a salary increase. It is given to all people who wear uniform in the Romanian Army and has a value of up to 30%”explained Miruță, according to Mediafax.
According to him, the mechanism was designed to support the incomes of the military, especially those with lower salaries, where the applied percentage has a higher impact.
At the same time, Miruță criticized the way in which some increases are distributed in the system, suggesting that there are situations of inequity between employees.
“There are people who work harder and don't get these raises just because they're friends with each other, in quotes friends, and there are others who get these raises because they're friends without the quotes. This has to stop“, he also stated.
He emphasized that he supports the increase in funding for defense personnel, reasoning that it is an important condition for attracting new personnel to the system. “The idea that the Romanian Army needs more money for the military to encourage them to come into the field is not a bad thing, and I support it with all my might,” said the minister.
