Russia has allowed to seize the property of violators who have gone abroad

Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows the property of Russians who are outside the country and who have committed administrative offenses against the interests of Russia to be seized.
New measures can be applied in cases of discrediting the Armed Forces, calls for sanctions, propaganda of Nazi symbols, production and distribution of extremist materials. Property may also be seized if a fine is not paid for such violations.
Restrictions may also include money in bank accounts. In this case, the value of the seized property will not be limited by the amount of the fine imposed. If a person is abroad and cannot be notified of the case, the court will have to appoint a lawyer for him. If the case is dropped, the costs of paying a defense attorney will be reimbursed from the federal budget.
The law will come into force on September 1.
