In Nazarovo, miners and railway workers of JSC SUEK-Krasnoyarsk and factory workers of LLC ESK SUEK met again to honor the memory of Alexander Igorevich Kuznetsov, the former head of JSC SUEK-Krasnoyarsk, and a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, with sporting achievements.
He died tragically 19 years ago. But coal miners will forever remember him as a person who not only spoke about the importance of sports, but also actively participated in the company’s sports life and turned corporate sports into a real force that unites people, the SUEK press service said.
The XVII volleyball tournament in memory of Alexander Kuznetsov brought together 10 men's and women's teams from Nazarovo, Sharypovo, Borodino and Krasnoyarsk.
“Alexander Igorevich put his soul into the development of sports. It is thanks to him that all competitions and sports days have reached a fundamentally different level,” emphasized Viktor Gubanov, manager of the Nazarovsky open-pit mine, when welcoming the tournament participants. “We hold these games in his honor to remember: the true brotherhood of miners is not limited to work shifts. It is also in such warm meetings. This is the history of our company, our common history.”
Women played in the gym of the Nazarovo Agrarian College, men – in the Semenkov Sports Palace.
“We always go out to the site with the intention of winning,” says Andrey Volkov, a track fitter at the Nazarovsky open-pit mine. “Moreover, this is a memorial tournament; we played with a special mood.”
“In this tournament, victory for us, I think, is not the main thing,” notes Margarita Shubina, leading engineer for organizing transportation at the Berezovsky open-pit mine. “For so many years, we have truly become like one big family.” Always happy to meet and chat. We hope this tradition will live on for many years to come.”
Among women, the team from Krasnoyarsk took gold in the tournament, silver from the Berezovsky open-pit mine, bronze from the Nazarovsky RMZ. For men, the leaders were the volleyball players from the Nazarovsky mine, the second place went to the team from the Berezovsky mine, and the third place went to the athletes from the Borodino mine. This time the winners' challenge cup remained in Nazarovo.
“During the year, coal miners often meet at various sporting events – sports competitions, friendly matches, GTO festivals. But this tournament is special. There is not just a fight for points and medals. Here is memory, respect and gratitude to the man who once made corporate sports truly big. While teams of coal miners from Nazarovo, Sharypovo, Borodino and Krasnoyarsk gather in the homeland of Alexander Kuznetsov in Nazarovo, while the audience applauds and the cup passes from hand to hand, the memory of this wonderful man who stood at the origins of the creation of SUEK-Krasnoyarsk is alive,” SUEK is convinced.
