In Russia, preclinical studies of a vaccine against ragweed allergy are planned to begin in 2027. Veronika Skvortsova, head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, told RIA Novosti about this.
According to her, the development is being carried out by the State Scientific Center “Institute of Immunology” of the FMBA of Russia. Skvortsova noted that allergies to ragweed account for about 30% of all allergic diseases. It is especially common in the southern regions of the country.
“We hope to begin preclinical studies next year. And if good results are confirmed, we will enter clinical trials,” she said.
The vaccine prototype has already shown effectiveness and safety in experiments. If the results of preclinical studies confirm preliminary data, developers will be able to move on to human trials.
