“Maybe the Lord will have mercy?” 88-year-old Rogovtseva touchingly congratulated the Ukrainians. Video


88-year-old Rogovtseva first of all addressed the defenders of Ukraine.

“Happy New Year to everyone who is waiting for their own – so that they can wait. And maybe they will come back on vacation, maybe they will let you go – and there will be a real, real family holiday. Because the New Year is a family holiday,” she said.

The actress wished everyone health and God's mercy.

“So that this year moves us closer to victory. Or maybe the Lord will take pity? And there will be victory. We pray, we believe and we do everything for this,” added Rogovtseva.

Context

Rogovtseva was born on July 16, 1937. She is a People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the National Taras Shevchenko Award, Hero of Ukraine.

Rogovtseva was married to Ukrainian actor Konstantin Stepankov. In 2002 she was widowed. The marriage produced two children – son Konstantin (1962) and daughter Ekaterina (1971). The actress's son died in 2012 after a long illness. He is survived by his daughter Darina.
