The legendary vodka factory is waiting for a new owner. Resolution coming soon

The entire company, which has been in bankruptcy for several years, is for sale. It is an over two-hectare property in Szczecin, a production and warehouse complex with cellars for aging alcohol, the right to the Starka brand, recipes, intellectual property rights, as well as stocks in the form of thousands of barrels of aged vodka. However, tangible assets are not everything, intangible capital also counts.

Factory value higher than official valuation
Starka Vodka Factory Szczecin has been in bankruptcy for four years. At the end of 2023, it had PLN 66 million of liabilities to repay. So far, there has been no one willing to purchase her property, but it is possible that this will change soon. More than a year ago, the name of Tomasz Biernacki – the head of the Dino store chain and one of the richest Polish billionaires – appeared in the media. There was no official confirmation from him, but in February 2025, three independent sources familiar with the matter spoke about it in an interview with Business Insider. They informed that the potential bidder was interested in leasing the company with the right of first refusal, as well as obtaining exclusive rights to test the quality of alcohol stored in Szczecin's cellars.
The official valuation of the company is currently PLN 106.3 million. According to SFW Starka, the factory sale offer is much more than a standard transaction. According to experts, the value of this investment may significantly exceed its official valuation, which results not only from the tangible assets held, but primarily from intangible capital. For example, the revenue potential of Starka's inventory alone is estimated at PLN 456.8 million, which is more than four times more than the valuation of the entire company.

— The official valuation is only a reference point and should be treated as a minimum value. We are dealing with an asset that combines tradition with enormous growth potential. This is not only a continuation of production, but an opportunity to build a strong, international brand – emphasized attorney Bartosz Groele, the owner's representative, in a statement quoted by PAP.
According to Portal Spożywczy, the opening of offers and possible extra time between investors are to take place on June 12 in the court in Szczecin.
