Hepatitis C often has no symptoms and can lead to severe liver disease. This was reported by Rospotrebnadzor in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to experts, in 85% of cases this viral infection passes from an acute to a chronic form. The danger of hepatitis C is that a person may not know about the disease for a long time. Without treatment, the infection can lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer.
The virus is transmitted through damaged skin or mucous membranes through contact with infected blood. Rospotrebnadzor reminded that hepatitis C is curable. To confirm the diagnosis, it is enough to take a test.
Residents of the region are recommended to undergo regular testing for hepatitis C.
