“Interview” with Jerzy Żywalewski on the regime program of Belarusian television

According to the narrative, based on the allegations of the Belarusian justice system, Żywalewski was to be recruited by Polish special services in the early 2000s. Under the pseudonym “Poseidon” he was to collect information about the Military Ministry of Defense and officers of the State Border Committee of Belarus – says Belsat.
The accusation itself justifies only the board opening the program – later the program focused on the personal history of the man.
The interview with Żywalewski was conducted by Daniel Mikusek, an entrepreneur who, after escaping to Belarus, cooperates with the propaganda media of the Lukashenko government. In the broadcast in Polish, Żywalewski told about his decision to move to Belarus, which he undertook after meeting his wife, Belarusian and how he conducted a small business in Grodno.
There were no reasons for imprisoning the Pole in the program
The man talked about his attachment to Belarus, making plans to stay in the country. – Knowing Belarusian law, I suspect that I will be forced to return to Poland. I think they are deporting me. I would love to stay in Belarus – he said.
Jerzy Żywalewski mentioned that after being released, he is counting on the support of the Polish authorities, although he is aware that “he may be forced to look for a job abroad.” “Maybe Poland didn't leave me alone, but I don't know what they did in my case,” he said.
The man's words show that his 17-year-old son and wife have been in Grodno, but for half a year he had no chance to see them. In turn, a 93-year-old mother, living in Poland, does not know the dramatic situation of her son.
This is not the first time Jerzy Żywalewski became the central figure of Belarusian propaganda programs. In December 2024, a documentary was broadcast, in which he was presented as an agent of Polish intelligence, allegedly involved in smuggling.
The process of Żywalewski ended on March 22, 2023, and the judgment was issued by Judge Anatol Zajac. The details of the case, however, were not discussed in more detail in the programs of Belarusian television – this is focused on the formation of a negative image of Polish services.
