Svitolina and Kostyuk will fight for a place in the semi-finals of Roland Garros. What are the forecasts?


The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina and the Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, who is included in the list of the 15 best tennis players in the world and is the second racket of Ukraine, will compete on June 2 for the right to play in the semi-finals of one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, Roland Garros 2026. The press service of the competition reported this on the social network X.

The announcement indicates that the first day of quarterfinals has been scheduled and the full order of play for that day has been revealed.

Earlier, X Roland Garros published photos of eight “contenders for one crown,” including two Ukrainian athletes.

Bookmakers tentatively call 23-year-old Kiev Kostyuk the favorite of the confrontation. Bets on her victory are accepted with odds of 1.78, while on the success of 31-year-old Odessa Svitolina they reach the level of 2.05. At the same time, analysts are confident that the tennis players will play at least 22 games. This event is represented by an index of 1.75.

Kostyuk has won all 16 of her matches this clay season, winning titles in Rouen and Madrid. Svitolina won her last 10 matches on clay and became the champion of the super tournament in Madrid.

Svitolina reached the quarter finals of Roland Garros for the sixth time, Kostyuk will make his debut at this stage of the major. Previously, the Ukrainians played two matches against each other, exchanging victories.

Ukrainian sports functionary and businessman Yuriy Sapronov commented on the upcoming game in a commentary for Tribuna.com. He drew attention to the fact that for the first time in the history of Ukrainian tennis, two Ukrainian women will compete in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament. Sapronov believes that both tennis players are in the best shape of their careers. When asked who he sees as the quarterfinal favorite on paper, he answered Kostyuk. At the same time, he pointed out Svitolina’s advantage, which he considers “tennis wisdom.”
