The US extends until June 27 the deadline for the sale of Lukoil's international assets

The Trump administration has extended by almost a month the deadline for energy companies to conclude agreements for the purchase of the international assets of Lukoil, the second largest oil producer in Russia, according to a statement posted on the website of the US Treasury, Novinite and Agerpres inform.

The deadline has been extended to June 27, from May 30, 2026.

Lukoil was placed on the list of US sanctioned entities in October 2025, which has attracted the interest of potential buyers for the Russian oil giant's international assets, estimated at $22 billion.

Since then, the US has extended the deadline for the sale of the Russian group's international assets six times.

Among the potential buyers are the American energy giant ExxonMobil, as well as other important investors.

The US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said last year that money from any sale of Lukoil assets would have to be placed in an account under US jurisdiction, with the funds to be frozen until sanctions against Lukoil are lifted.

Lukoil's net losses last year, calculated according to international financial standards, amounted to 1.059 billion rubles ($12.386 billion) due to sanctions imposed by the Trump administration.

This is a huge difference from the results of 2024, when the Russian oil company closed the year with a net profit of 851.5 billion rubles ($9.959 billion).

Lukoil's revenue fell to 3.767 billion rubles ($44.057 billion) last year from 4.420 billion rubles ($51.695 billion) in 2024.

The change in dynamics was due to US sanctions against major Russian oil companies, forcing Lukoil to sell its assets abroad.
