The Romanian national team ended on Saturday evening with a clear victory in group D at the European mini-football championship, held in Bratislava, Slovakia. The “tricolors” destroyed Georgia, score 3-0, and won the group. In the round of 16, our national team will face Austria.
Romania started the European mini-soccer with a draw, score 1-1 with Spain, then won on the limit against England, 1-0. Qualified in the round of 16 even before the last match, our national team needed a draw to keep their first position and therefore have an easier opponent in the round of 16.
Said and done, because Romania paraded with Georgia and won the group with 7 points. Further, for a place in the quarter-finals, Romania will face Austria. The match is scheduled for Monday, June 1, from 17:30 local time (18:30 Romanian time), in Tipos Arena.
Romania – Austria, for a place in the quarter-finals of the European mini-football
Austria, the opponent in the round of 16, started this edition of the final tournament with a failure, score 0-1 against the representative from Azerbaijan. Then they also lost against France, score 0-3, in order to strike in the last stage and get the third place in group F, which would qualify them for the knockout stages, after a 5-0 success against Italy.
Our national team leaves as a big favorite before this duel, being one of the most successful mini-football teams. At the European level, Romania has 6 titles, and in the previous edition, contested in 2024, it reached the final, losing dramatically to Serbia in the penalty shootout. In addition, the “tricolori” also have the world title won in 2023.
