Massimiliano Allegri (58 years old) became the main favorite to replace him at Naples on Antonio Conte. President Aurelio De Laurentiis also courted him last summer, when he feared that the technician who had won the title would leave, and now he is making another attempt with the one recently dismissed from Milan.
Aurelio de Laurentiis and the club's sporting director Giovanni Manna have held talks with Massimiliano Allegri, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. At the meeting, the former Milan coach expressed his willingness to take over the club from Napoli and his willingness to accept the proposed two-year contract.
The two sides are yet to clarify more details before the move is finalised, should Allegri be the choice of Azzurro club bosses. The manager was sacked by AC Milan on Monday but is likely to find a team in less than a week!

Following a defeat at the San Siro, 1-2 in the last leg against Cagliari, boss Gerry Cardinale fired the entire management of the club. Napoli parted ways earlier this week, amicably, with Antonio Conte, who he did not want to complete the last season of his contract and who could return to the Italian national team.
“It's a real insult to Milan! Allegri will be in the Champions League and the Rossoneri have been exiled to the Europa League”
“After the negotiations with Vincenzo Italiano, who officially left Bologna, did not reach a common denominator, De Laurentiis chose Allegri. Max will find a strong team and especially the Champions League, which has eluded him in charge of the Rossoneri in a disappointing second half of the season in Serie A and led to his sacking.
For AC Milan, this is a real insult! In 2026-27, Allegri will play in Europe's top competition, while the Rossoneri will be relegated to play in the Europa League (the difference in prestige and income is abysmal).
Vincenzo Italiano parted company with Bologna after two seasons, although he still had one year left on his contract
Not to mention the enormous revolution triggered by the sixth place occupied and the technical and corporate revolution, with the management practically decapitated”, commented Sportmediaset.
The president is waiting for the last word. Allegri's name has been discussed first by Manna and then by De Laurentiis in recent discussions. Then follow his response to see if Allegri will eventually become Napoli's new coach
