Paulina Hennig-Kloska emphasized on RMF FM that she is a supporter of extending the deposit system to include single-use glass. “Especially those small packages that litter our public space,” she said. – We will want to return to these solutions. Changes in the deposit system. Producers need time
Hennig-Kloska also emphasized that beverage producers and system operators must have time to prepare for this change. Therefore, it will enter into force with a delay.
— The decision on this matter, that the system will be expanded, was made in my team. It's a matter of “when”, not “if”, she added.
The deposit system has been operating in Poland since October 1, 2025. For drinks in plastic bottles (up to 3 liters) and metal cans (up to 1 liter), a deposit of 50 groszy is added, which can be recovered after returning the packaging. Whether a given package is covered by a deposit is indicated by the deposit mark printed on the label or can. To recover the deposit, you do not need to have a receipt, but the packaging cannot be crushed.

In accordance with the applicable regulations, the deposit system also includes reusable glass bottles up to 1.5 liters from 2026 (the deposit in their case is PLN 1). However, producers of drinks in such bottles can still conduct their own, independent collection of such packaging. These systems have been used primarily by beer producers for many years.
One of the main goals of the deposit system is to achieve EU levels of separate collection of beverage packaging (77% by 2028 and 90% from 2029).
