Elon Musk announced the transfer of his companies SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter) from California to Texas due to a new law on transgender children
Local Governor Gavin Newsom signed a document that prohibits schools from informing parents about their child's decision to change gender. Elon Musk called this “the last straw”:

About a year ago, I made it clear to Governor Newsom that laws of this nature would force families and businesses to leave California to protect their children.

Musk said the space company's headquarters will move from Hawthorne in Los Angeles to the Starbase site in Texas, and the microblogging network will move to Austin.
