In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) in the section “Across our region” the article “Petrified Wood” was published.

“The head of the apiary at the 32nd kilometer of the Birofeld highway, E.T. Morozov, plowing the ground for a vegetable garden, found a piece of petrified wood weighing several kilograms. Over countless years, during which the process of replacing living matter with particles of salt, lime, iron, the wood acquired the hardness of marble, preserving all the lines of the tree. This is the first such find in this area.”

The Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU discussed the issue “On the work of the regional organization of the Knowledge Society.” The resolution noted the improvement of lecture propaganda to explain to workers the decisions of the XXIII Congress of the CPSU and subsequent Plenums of the CPSU Central Committee. The Bureau obliged the board of the regional organization of the Knowledge Society to expand lecture propaganda in connection with preparations for the 50th anniversary of Soviet power.

The Bureau of the Leninsky District Committee of the CPSU considered the issue of joint work of the party organizations of the Dobrinsky state farm and the Trudovaya Niva collective farm, Stepnovskaya and Novinskaya secondary schools on labor training and vocational guidance of students.
It was noted that these farms provide the necessary equipment and specialists to train schoolchildren in agricultural professions, conduct joint work to educate students in labor traditions, and as a result of the work carried out, many school graduates remain to work on the farms. In 1975-1976, there were 23 people left on the Dobrino state farm, and 28 people on the Trudovaya Niva collective farm.
The adopted resolution outlines specific measures to further improve this work.

The plenum of the Smidovichi district committee of the CPSU determined the tasks of the district party organization to further strengthen labor and production discipline, public order, and improve the working and living conditions of workers and employees at enterprises and organizations in the district.
The adopted resolution noted that in the region, 90% of workers are actively participating in socialist competition, about five thousand people are fighting for the high title of shock worker of communist labor. In the region, 1.5 thousand workers, 77 brigades, workshops, and sections bear the titles of shock workers and communist labor collectives. Over the past two years, 451 thousand rubles have been spent on measures to improve working conditions and safety regulations, which is 2.8% more than during the corresponding period of the Tenth Five-Year Plan. About 50 measures were taken to introduce new equipment and advanced technology.
The Plenum demanded from the primary party organizations every possible improvement in the education of workers and employees in the spirit of a conscious attitude towards work, the strictest adherence to state and labor discipline.

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” in the section “Birobidzhan City Chronicle” published information about the city's production achievements:
“The hosiery and knitting factory mastered a new product – elastic stockings with an elastic band. The first several thousand products were produced. Buyers immediately appreciated the advantages of the new product.
This year, more than 20 types of products manufactured at city enterprises have been certified for the state “Quality Mark”. These are mainly products from clothing, shoe and hosiery factories.

Services for studying consumer demand have been created here, new products are being developed in experimental workshops, enterprises maintain close ties with industry model houses, research institutes, and take part in fairs held in the region and beyond.
As a result, more than 200 new types and models of products are developed annually.”
